RefWorks Guide

This guide will provide you with a more in-depth look at the New RefWorks bibliographic management tool.

Alerts!

Some patrons are having issues with the "Login with my institution" and RCM. DML encourages users to still "Login with my institution" but create an alternative password. Directions on how to create an alternative password can be found within RCM for Word and RCM Add-in Google Docs.

Welcome!

Welcome to the In-Text Citation tools section. The in-text citation capabilities of RefWorks make inserting citations into a research project infinitely easier. The following sections will go into greater detail into the options RefWorks has to offer:

  • WriteNCite--Please Note that starting in April, WnC will no longer be available for download. Please see the section for more information.
  • RefWorks Citation Manager for Microsoft 2016, 2019, and Word Online
  • RefWorks Citation Manager Add-on for Google Docs

Please be aware that none of these tools are interoperable. If you start in one tool, whether that be WriteNCite, RefWorks Citation Manager for Microsoft 2016 or RefWorks Citation Manager add-on for Google Docs, stick with that tool.

Use the left menu to navigate to each section.

Word 2019 and Word Online

At this time RefWorks has released the newest form of RefWorks Citation Manager. This is compatible with Word 2016, Word 2019, and Word Online.

If you already have RCM downloaded, it requires little extra work on the user end. RefWorks Citation Manager can do a quick update in the background for the user.
