eBooks-Reading and Using

Welcome! This guide will help you interact with the eBooks in DML's collection.

Exporting to a Reference Citation Manager

In order to begin the process of creating a citation for individual eBook chapters, please follow the steps below:

First, start with a textbook that you need from either AccessMedicine or AccessMedicine Neurology, and then select the chapter you need to cite:

Example book chapter Imaging of the heart and great vessels

At the top of the chapter, please note the options available to you: "View", "Print", "Email", "Get Citation", and "Search Book". "Get Citation" will live between "email" and "search book".

Select "Get Citation" between Search and Email

Select "Get Citation" to see a page similar to the image below:

Select "Get Citation" to see the citation available to you

You will notice that for the citation, there are two formats available to you, AMA and MLA. Select the one you wish to use. However, if you wish to download the citation file for the Reference Citation Management tool of your choice, select from the "Download citation file list". Your list will be in .txt format:

Choose the management tool you prefer, like RefWorks to download a file

Once complete, open the Reference Citation manager of your choice and begin the process of manually exporting your citation. Please note that the data source you need to select will be NLM/PubMed. Then, upload your .txt file to finish the process.

The selected citations will be sent to your selected reference citation manager for storage and management. For example, within RefWorks, you may utilize the bibliography functions of the platform to cite the eBook in your required format. For more information about using RefWorks see the Refworks Video Tutorials or help documents.
