The Responsible Use of Electronic Resources policy governs the use of resources provided by DML.



DML Resource Access

With current Georgetown NetID credentials, access to the Dahlgren Memorial Library (DML) health & life sciences resources is available as follows:

For Georgetown University Medical Center affiliates: Login from any on or off campus location

For Georgetown University Main, Law, and Qatar affiliates: Login from the computers in the DML Lobby (open 24/7, 365 days a year).

Altmetric Explorer monitors, searches, and measures tweets, news stories, blog posts, patents, grants and other sites that mention scholarly research done at GUMC and elsewhere. Altmetric Explorer data can be used in addition to traditional research metrics to present a well-rounded picture of individual, departmental or community research impact. Added functionality available with personal account (personal account must use @georgetown.edu or @gunet.georgetown.edu email address).

Organizational platform to support the evidence based review process. This tool uses machine learning, natural language processing, and text-mining functions to partially automate finding relevant citations and extract desired data from PDF articles. Colandr can be used by collaborative teams. Personal accounts required.

Self-paced learning tutorial providing techniques to avoid plagiarism and highlighting other aspects of academic integrity. This module goes into detail about providing citations and attribution. A certificate of completion is available once the tutorial has been reviewed.

Provides information on a variety of health topics from COVID-19 resources to racial equity and resource planning. Contains blogs, issue briefs, statistical reports, and others.

Access the Washington Post and other national (U.S.), international and regional newspapers. Audio and television new transcripts are also available. Added functionality available with personal account.

ORCID maintains a registry of unique author identifiers and a database of citations and other author provided data. Signing up for a ORCID iD helps to disambiguate research and helps authors retain authority over their work. Many journal publishers and some funders require an ORCID iD prior to submission. Personal account required for an ORCID iD.

A geographic information system (GIS) tool for data visualization and mapping a variety of topics including demographics, health, quality of life and employment. Added functionality available with personal account.
