Responsible Use of Electronic Resources

The Responsible Use of Electronic Resources policy governs the use of resources provided by DML.



DML Resource Access

With current Georgetown NetID credentials, access to the Dahlgren Memorial Library (DML) health & life sciences resources is available as follows:

For Georgetown University Medical Center affiliates: Login from any on or off campus location

For Georgetown University Main, Law, and Qatar affiliates: Login from the computers in the DML Lobby (open 24/7, 365 days a year).

The following databases are newly acquired by DML.

Mobile web browser with embedded Lean Library browser extension. Lean Library simplifies access to DML full text resources and avoid unnecessary paywalls. The extension redirects to DML subscriptions, legal, open access content or facilitates Document Delivery requests for materials not available.

    Instructions:
  • On a mobile device, go to the Lean Library download page

  • From there select the "iOS app", to be taken to the entry in the App store.

  • Open the app and under "Settings - Select your Library", search for and select Georgetown University Medical Center (DML).

  • Scroll down and select "Save."

  • When using the Academic browser to search, a popup message will assist with access to full text content

Writing tool that identifies hard to read sentences and excessive use of the passive voice. Helpful for creating patient handouts in plain language and improving written communication skills. May not be as effective for scientific scholarly writing.

A current awareness tool for healthcare professionals. Articles published within 12 specialties are summarized and put into perspective by physician editors. Added functionality available with personal account.

Search by journal, topic, author, or "My Citations" to identify scholarly journals in which to publish. Provides journal metadata broken down into general information, quality metrics & indexing, publication policies, and open access.

A self-directed learning platform covering telemedicine/telehealth, and the associated regulations, technology, equity and ethical concerns. Consists of learning modules with quizzes and supporting full text articles.
