Scilligence ELN

This guide will provide you the basics of what an Electronic Laboratory Notebook is, the benefits of using Scilligence ELN, and how to make the most of your account.

Moving Items

Scilligence is FDA CFR Part 11 compliant, meaning that no experiment can be permanently deleted from your account. However, this section of "Moving Items" will focus on moving items into or out of the Recycle Bin and "Voiding" experiments.

In order to move items into the Recycle Bin, follow the steps below:

First, select the Show Properties icon () that can be found on the right of any file. As you can see, Show Properties lives between the Move icon and the PDF icon.

Select Show Properties to view a similar image to the one below:

In order to send your file to the recycle bin, select the Delete icon ()

Scilligence will ask whether you are sure what wish to delete the item. Select okay. You will notice that it no longer lives in its original place. Select Recycle Bin from the side navigation in order to open the Recycle Bin.

The example file now lives within the Recycle Bin.

Even after you have "deleted" an item and it has moved to the "Recycle Bin" you can still work with it as you need. A "deleted" item is not permanently stored in the "Recycle Bin". If you wish to remove your file from the Recycle Bin, go back to the Properties icon and select Undelete:

Voiding Items

Another way to remove an item or experiment is to "void" it. The "void" action permanently places the item into the recycle bin.

In order to "void" an experiment, follow the directions below:

First, select the Show Properties icon (show properties icon) that can be found on the right of any file. As you can see, Show Properties lives between the Move icon and the PDF icon.

Select Show Properties to view a similar image to the one below:

In order to Void an experiment select the Void icon (void icon)

Scilligence will then ask for a reason for voiding the experiment. Once finished, select Void.

execute void

Go to the Recycle Bin to see your voided item. The voided items have the Void icon () to the left of the file name and file type icon.  These files can be edited, however, they will never leave the Recycle Bin. Because of this permanence, we recommend caution when using the Void tool.
