Copyright for Online or Virtual Classroom

Welcome

When teaching or presenting in a virtual or hybrid classroom, there are a number things to keep in mind to ensure that the content is provided in a manner respecting the US Copyright law. Use of creative commons content, DML subscribed content, and commercially available content are all options for instructors; however, each has virtual classroom considerations that are discussed in depth in this guide.

If you feel that you need to use commercial images and materials, please know that the less you use the better. DML boasts a robust electronic collection of materials including multimedia like images and educational videos. Many of the subscribed materials provided by DML have allowances for teaching purposes. As long as you follow directions of the creative commons license used by the material in question, they can be used for teaching purposes as well.
