eBooks-Reading and Using

Welcome! This guide will help you interact with the eBooks in DML's collection.

Welcome to Citing eBooks

Welcome to How to Cite eBooks!

One of the easiest ways to find the citation of a particular eBook is to use the DML Catalog.

Start by going to our DML catalog and entering the name of the needed eBook. Notice at the bottom of the record you have a number of tabs available to you. Select "Permanent URL", the button next to "?":

Select Permanent URL

At the top of the page, you will notice that there is a citation available to you along with the identifying format. For the example above, the citation format is the American Medical Association (AMA) format. If all you would like is the AMA citation then you don't need to go further.

However, if you would like to import the citation into a Reference Citation Manager, such as RefWorks, please continue.  At the bottom of the page, you will also want to notice the "Download for EndNote/RefMan/RefWorks/Mendley" button. Select "EndNote/RefMan/RefWorks/Mendley". Please note that your file will be in .txt format:

Select the "Download for EndNote/RefMan/RefWorks/Mendley" button

Once complete, open the Reference Citation manager of your choice and begin the process of manually importing your citation. Please note that the data source you need to select will be NLM/PubMed. Then, upload your .txt file to finish the process.

The selected citations will be sent to your selected reference citation manager for storage and management. For example, within RefWorks, you may utilize the bibliography functions of the platform to cite the eBook in your required format. For more information about using RefWorks see the Refworks Video Tutorials or help documents.

Citing in a Collection

In the following pages there will be directions on how to upload texts from our various eBook collections to a bibliographic Management tool. DML supports RefWorks, so the examples will demonstrate how to upload into RefWorks.
