DML Circulating iPad Guide

This guide informs GUMC affiliates of DMl's policies and procedures on checking out and using iPads.

iPad User Guide

Access to Wi-Fi

  1. Tap Settings
  2. Then go to Wi-Fi and slide to turn on Wi-Fi
  3. Then Device will search for available Wi-Fi networks
  4. Select the desired Wi-Fi network (Saxanet for on-campus)
  5. If selecting Saxanet, enter your GU Net ID and password
  6. After you’ve joined the network, you will see a checkmark next to the network name

How to Sign into iTunes

  1. On your iPad
  2. Open the iTunes Store App.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Sign In.
  4. Tap Use Existing Apple ID, then enter the Apple ID and password that you use with the iTunes Store.
  5. Tap Sign In.
  6. When you sign in to the iTunes Store, you also automatically sign in to the App Store, Music, Apple Books, and Podcasts apps on your device.

Printing with the Papercut

  1. Open a browser window (you must use Safari), and then go to the PaperCut Print Mobility Client installation setup page.
  2. Make sure the correct operating system for your device is displayed at the top of the screen. If it isn’t, click the icon for your operating system (icons for Windows, Apple, iOS, and Android operating systems are located at the bottom of the screen), and then tap Download
  3. In the pop-up stating that this site is trying to download a configuration profile, tap Allow. You should see the “Profile Downloaded” confirmation message.
  4. Tap Close.
  5. Tap the Settings icon to open your settings.
  6. In Settings, tap Profile Downloaded.
  7. Tap Install in the next window displaying “PaperCut Mobility Print for iOS”.
  8. Enter your device’s passcode, and then tap Install at the prompt.
  9. Tap Done.

Basic Troubleshooting Tips

If an app you installed unexpectedly stops working, or won’t open

  1. Close the app and open it again.
  2. Turn your device off and back on.
  3. Make sure that you're using latest version of iOS.
  4. Open the App Store and tap Updates.
  5. If updates are available, tap Update All.
  6. If asked, enter your Apple ID password.
  7. If no updates are available tap and hold the app until it jiggles.
  8. Tap the on the app.
  9. Press the Home button.
  10. Go to the App Store and download the app again.

iPad Hardware

If there appears to be a hardware issue with the iPad please return to the Information Services Desk during operating hours and let a staff member know of the problem.

Before You Return the DML iPad

Remove the device from your Apple account (no more than 10 devices can be associated with an Apple ID at one time)

  1. Open iTunes  (preferably from a PC)
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID
  3. From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen or at the top of the iTunes window, choose Account > View My Account.  Enter your password, then press the Return or Enter key on your keyboard, or click View Account.
  4. Scroll to the iTunes in the Cloud section, then click Manage Devices.
  5. Manage Devices page, click Remove to the right of the DML iPad that you want to remove.   
  6. Apple Support provides additional information about linked devices.

Delete Your Personal Information

  1. Tap Settings
  2. Choose General
  3. Select Reset
  4. Select Reset all Settings
  5. Agree to reset
