How to navigate to the Advanced Search

Underneath the basic search box, there are various options available to the user such as Search SettingsBookmarks, and My Searches.

On the far right, there is the option for Advanced Search.

Select Advanced Search from the far right of the basic search box.

Below is what the Advanced Search screen looks like. It is broken down into PreviewQuery Builder, Resources, and other Options. To further expand a search, additional databases can be added. Select the arrows next to each discipline to see the options and click the checkmark next to a database name to add it to the search.

Query Builder

Query Builder provides an avenue to perform a more controlled search. It allows for the use of  boolean operators and field searching in specific record fields such as author or title. 

 

Preview just provides a preview of what is being entered into Query Builder. Query builder for Subject ADHD

 

In the following example, effort was made to use Boolean operators and subject headings to control the search.

Query builder is more in-depth. Contains subject ADHD OR keyword ADHD AND subject Autism Spectrum Disorder AND keyword autism
