eBooks-Reading and Using

Welcome! This guide will help you interact with the eBooks in DML's collection.

Saving to PC

In order to begin the process of saving either a ClinicalKey or ClinicalKey Nursing eBook to your personal computer, please follow the steps below:

First, prior to going to the eBooks, please login to your personal account underneath the umbrella of Dahlgren Memorial Library. While the account is not required, you will not be able to save, print, or download without logging in. Either select "Login" or "Register" depending on if you have created a personal account before. Once registered and logged in, you will see your name. In order to select a book from either collection go to the "Book" option next to the search box and browse the texts alphabetically. From the eBook you need, select a chapter to see a screen similar to the one below:

Notice the icons on the upper right, above the Thumbnail image of the textbook. You should see "CME", "Bookmark", "PDF", "email", and "print":

Select the PDF icon either next to the Book Chapter title or from the icon list. You will automatically be taken to a new tab with the PDF of the entire chapter. Near the top of the page, hover to see options for you similar to the image below:

Notice the icons on the right. Select the "download" icon to automatically download the PDF of the needed eBook chapter. Once you download the PDF, you will be able to select the file name and location where it will live on your personal files. 

Mobile Device

In order to go through the process of reading an eBook or eBook chapter off-line on your device, please follow the steps below:

First, in order to begin the process, go to either ClinicalKey or ClinicalKey Nursing from an on-campus computer. Then, click register for a new account or sign in if you already have an existing account.

Once you have logged in, click on your name on the upper right hand corner, and select "Remote Access".  

Enter in your MGUH or Georgetown Email and you should receive an email with directions. Select the "Activation" link that will be within your email. 

Next, go to either Google Play or the App Store to complete the process of downloading the ClinicalKey App. Once you have downloaded the app, you should see a screen similar the one below asking you to sign in. Use the username and password you created in order to login. DO NOT sign in via OpenAthens or Insitutional Login options:

Once you have logged in, you should see a screen similar to the one below. Select "Browse" from the Menu option on the left:

Select Books to be taken to a list of the eBooks available to you. Please note that there are significantly less eBooks available from ClinicalKey Nursing than ClinicalKey:

 

 

 

Then, select the eBook and eBook chapter you wish to read:

 

At the top, right of the page, please select the "folder" icon next to the search icon.

Select the folder icon to see the following options: "Save Content", "Share link", "Print", "Download PDF".

Select "Download PDF" to see a list of options provided to you. If you have an Apple product, select "import with iBooks" to open into iBooks. 

Select "import into iBooks" to see an image similar to the one below: 

 

If you have an android product, please download the iPublish reader app in order to view your PDF. The option to "Copy to Reader" will pop up if you have downloaded the reader app correctly. Select "Copy to Reader" in order to see the books on your bookshelf.
